Storer Transit Systems is seeking a visionary General Manager to lead a complex, multi-contract regional transit operation in Merced County. Blending the honesty, integrity, and family-first culture of the Storer founders with high-level corporate strategy, this executive role oversees a diverse portfolio of fixed-route, paratransit, microtransit, and intercity/mountain commuter services. The ideal candidate is a strategic partner who will drive financial performance, optimize asset utilization, and ensure unparalleled safety and client satisfaction across integrated regional transit networks.
Compensation: $160,000 - $180,000 (DOE) + Comprehensive Benefits
Key Responsibilities: - Strategic Leadership: Serve as the primary liaison to joint powers authorities (JPAs), agency boards, and key stakeholders (e.g., Caltrans, National Park Service), setting the commercial and operational direction for the business unit.
- Multi-Contract Oversight: Direct the daily operations of integrated county-wide and regional transit systems, ensuring seamless resource sharing, cost control, and strict adherence to distinct contractual KPIs and liquidated damage metrics.
- Labor Relations: Navigate complex labor relations, fostering a collaborative and productive partnership with Teamsters Union representatives and managing grievance procedures effectively.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure stringent adherence to FTA, DOT, and Caltrans regulations. Lead preparations for FTA Triennial Reviews and ensure continuous compliance with Title VI and ADA mandates.
- Safety & Innovation: Champion a proactive safety culture (PTASP/SMS compliance) while guiding the operation through modern transit innovations, including zero-emission/EV fleet transitions and modern CAD/AVL integrations.
- Financial Management: Develop, monitor, and deliver the business unit budget, creating action plans to improve operational efficiencies and maximize the return on deployed assets.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of 5+ years of increasingly responsible transit General Management experience overseeing operations with 50+ FTE unionized operators.
- Proven track record managing diverse transit modes (Fixed Route, Paratransit, Commuter) of comparable size and scope.
