BRIEF DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for overseeing the general operations of City/County Transportation (Cletran), a regional demand-response transit system serving Johnson County. Core responsibilities include managing daily service operations, supervising personnel, ensuring regulatory compliance, overseeing fleet and facility maintenance, and assisting Finance with the administration of state and federal transit grants.
This role also supports regional mobility by contributing to customer service improvements, community engagement, and outreach efforts. It involves helping identify opportunities for service expansion and participating in marketing and planning initiatives. The position works collaboratively with funding agencies and regional partners, including the Texas Department of Transportation and the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
The City is willing to train candidates who demonstrate leadership skills, have relevant experience in municipal or public sectors, and a commitment to learning transportation operations.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
High school graduate or equivalent; and
A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, transportation, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience in public transit operations, state/federal transportation, programs, or municipal services; OR
Five (5) or more years of leadership or supervisory experience in public-sector roles, logistics, or operations management; OR
An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will also be considered.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
A valid Class C Texas commercial driver license (CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement, or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.
Ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS
Primarily in an indoor environment with the ability to operate outdoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during the summer and winter months.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic and/or caustic chemicals, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but at times may be high.

Standard office equipment, including multi-line telephone, computer, fax machine, copier, scanner, shredder, printer, mobile devices with various operating systems, etc.
