Trinity Metro is seeking a new Assistant Vice President of Planning and Development. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Strategy, Planning and Development, the AVP is responsible for assisting the leadership team in growth plan formulations while focusing on the transit system’s current state, as well as coordinating the Planning, Government Relations, Grants Management, and Project Management Departments.

Branded as “The T” in 1983 and rebranded as Trinity Metro in 2018, the agency provides passenger trips on buses, TEXRail, ZIPZONE services, ACCESS paratransit, vanpools, and Trinity Railway Express. Trinity’s service system had a ridership of 4,761,100 in 2022, or about 17,900 per weekday as of the third quarter of 2023. Comprising 1,745 fixed bus stops across its 39 routes as well as metro trolleys and special services, Trinity Metro serves the cities of Fort Worth, Blue Mound, Grapevine, and North Richland Hills, all located in North Central Texas.

The ideal candidate will not only work well on cross-departmental initiatives and collaborate well with the executive leadership team, but will also administer the General Planning Consultant contract; establish and supervise long- and short-range planning, facilities, and capital construction projects; develop programs addressing all aspects of the community's public transportation needs; oversee capital construction development; support supervision of government relations; direct and conduct special research projects and overall system performance reviews; lead plan development; act as a resource to and a liaison between internal and external customers and stakeholders; and prepare budgets and monitor disbursement of funds for departments.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Affairs, Engineering, Management, Geography, or a closely related field, plus a minimum of 10 years of management in a public transit field as well as a minimum of four (4) years managing a staff. A combination of experience, training, and/or education may be considered as sufficient.

Additionally, candidates must possess the following abilities, knowledge, and skills: familiarity with urban planning techniques, an understanding of transit systems and transportation safety regulations at state and federal levels, financial management, policy development, communications and media etiquette, oral presentation, administration of projects within budgets, maintenance of professional working relationships and confidentiality, and independent decision making.
