Having recaptured and surpassed its pre-pandemic ridership, SORTA has added significant new services and enhancements in the last two years. New BRT corridors will establish a transportation framework that allows for upgraded and more efficient bus service, creating a more comprehensive public transit network.

KL2 is tasked with providing a Senior Manager of BRT for project management of the planning and implementation of BRT service, ensuring timely compliance with project deliverables, management of consultants, and overall coordination.

The Senior Manager of Bus Rapid Transit Planning & Design leads the team responsible for the construction and startup of multiple corridors and guides the BRT consulting team on matters of procurement, contract management, and oversight. The Senior Manager is SORTA’s vision leader for project engineering, civil and systems design, and contractual matters. The successful candidate can remove barriers and achieve stated project goals using best-practice documentation and standardization.

Using an interdisciplinary and positive, team-building approach, the Senior Manager guides all aspects of multiple projects with engineers, stakeholders, customers, external planners and agencies, and governmental units and is familiar with civil, structural, traffic, and systems design disciplines, compliance, and risk assessment.

A typical way of acquiring the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is with a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in architecture, engineering, or planning, plus eight years of experience in transit development, of which three are in BRT design or implementation. A master’s degree is preferred. Extensive software skills are necessary, including a working knowledge of GIS and data-related applications, proficiency in Microsoft Project, Federal Transit Administration (FTA) capital projects requirements, proven experience in innovative transit solutions and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and a working knowledge of transit planning and scheduling principles and requirements.

This is an excellent career opportunity with attractive compensation and benefits. To be considered, go to www.KL2connects.com/openings, select the SORTA listing, and upload a letter of interest, resume, salary expectations, and four to five professional references (preferably supervisory and including each reference’s name, title, email, phone, and relationship to you.)
