Our extensive network of DART Light Rail, Trinity Railway Express commuter rail, bus routes and paratransit services move more than 220,000 passengers per day across our 700-square-mile service area.

The Director of Facilities & Systems Engineering (FSE), reporting to the Sr AVP, Engineering has great visibility and impact on our Agency’s current and strategic goals. This role will provide leadership in three (3) critical areas:
  • Bridge & Tunnel Inspections & Repairs

  • Facilities Design / Modifications

  • On-Call Construction Services

This position directs, oversees, and manages the resources and activities of personnel within Engineering’s Facilities & Systems Engineering Division. This role’s scope of work will engage the following: facilities and light rail systems, as well as civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering support. This includes oversight of maintenance, and development of asset configuration management systems and processes for all DART facilities and systems.

Additionally, these responsibilities will include providing direction and oversight to the On-Call Construction Services program and the Bridge & Tunnel Inspections and Repairs program for DART’s Engineering Department. Primary objectives are to keep the Operational Facilities and infrastructure assets in a reliable state of good repair. Management responsibilities also include supervision of salaried employees, management of the operating/capital budget, and contract expenditures.

A suitable applicant will possess the following background:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering discipline or related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license would be preferred.

  • Ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in transportation facilities and systems, project management, and technical support, to include a minimum of five (5) years supervising engineering staff engaged in maintenance technical support, project management, and configuration management programs.

  • Strong abilities demonstrated in management, finance, and business-related experiences.

  • Adept at oral and written communications with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to pass a physical (medical) examination that includes a drug screen to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.
