ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This executive-level leader will work to ensure that SporTran provides world-class service while advancing the following:

  • Continue SporTran's practice of integrating technology to improve efficiency and streamline processes.
  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the SporTran team members.
  • Works in close partnership with Chief Executive Officer to convene and coordinate key policy and strategic issues facing the agency.
  • Understand an issue from multiple perspectives, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure positive interaction between SporTran and the community it serves.
  • Oversees SporTran's internal and external relations, partnerships, strategic communications, and brand management functions.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to functions including agency-wide Strategic Communications and Brand Management and Partnership and Engagement functions of the agency. Align the work performed with the overall vision and strategic goals of SporTran.
  • On behalf of the Chief Executive Officer convene and coordinate key efforts by working with a variety of stakeholders including internal SporTran staff, elected officials, other governmental agencies, transit customers, and the broader community to provide the best service and customer experience possible.
  • Identify and manage critical issues that have a significant internal and public impact which require the attention of the Executive Management Team.
  • Support and sustain the agency as a high-performing organization which models excellent organizational performance and exemplary customer service.
  • Contribute to the vision, mission, and values of the agency through responsible and effective leadership and work performance.
  • Build teams and provide an environment that fosters employee engagement and creates developmental opportunities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
We are looking for candidates who:
  • Have 10 years of high-level management and leadership experience in a large public setting, operating within a complex multicultural and diverse environment.
  • Are knowledgeable about how public sector organizations work and how to get things done both through formal channels and informal networks.
  • Understand how to build and sustain community and public relations.
  • Have demonstrated knowledge of local government issues and regulations at the City, Parish, State, and Federal level.
  • Skilled in analytical and critical thinking, with strategic agility around sensitive issues and an ability to foster creativity and encourage problem-solving.
  • Skilled in consensus building, policy analyses, informed debate and interaction, and effective decision-making.
  • Skilled in identifying key business issues from multiple perspectives.
  • Demonstrate transparency and build trust, courageously and consistently acting upon a strong set of core values that are aligned with SporTran's values.
  • Have the ability as a leader to facilitate difficult conversations, particularly related to race (and other protected classes), power, and privilege.
  • Have the leadership courage and an ability to manage change as well as to identify and take steps necessary to ensure that all have equitable opportunities to thrive.
  • Have demonstrated experience developing direct reports, setting clear expectations, and building effective teams in diverse work environments while creating strong morale, instilling vision and purpose, and fostering open dialogue.

Working Conditions
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment but has up to 35% of job performance in the field.
  • The person in this position must be able to:
