CPS HR Consulting is pleased to be assisting Long Beach Transit (LBT) in their recruitment of a Superintendent, Transit Service Delivery (Superintendent). The Superintendent is focused on achieving results that are aligned with the larger picture of the organization and its strategic priorities. Initiative, empathy and the ability to stay focused on results, despite changing conditions, is key to achieving the performance objectives of this position. As environmental and organizational conditions evolve, the work involves creative thinking and collaboration to generate ideas for quick responses. Decision-making is focused on implementing practical, timely solutions. The position requires getting things done effectively and handling a variety of activities simultaneously.

The Superintendent will be a demonstrated leader with a commitment to providing superior customer service. The Superintendent will possess a high level of integrity and honesty with the ability to engage staff; partner with stakeholders; as well as develop positive relationships with their direct reports, LBT employees, as well as the community. The ideal candidate must possess LBT’s leadership competencies including, but not limited to, the ability to demonstrate operational excellence; coach, motivate and develop; manage employee performance; communicate and inform; as well as problem-solving skills.

Incorporated in 1963, LBT serves 107.7 square miles across Long Beach and 13 surrounding cities, accumulating over 6.9 million service miles and 700,000 service hours each year. Approximately 800 agency staff collectively support 250 fixed-route buses, water taxi services, demand-responsive paratransit services, special season services and commuter service (UCLA/Westwood Commuter Express). Core customers are primarily comprised of employed and student customers utilizing LBT for work, school, medical appointments, personal business and recreational destinations.
