MV Transportation is seeking a Director, Zero Emissions Strategy. This position will create the MV Zero Emission strategy, including building the business plan and advising the go-to-market approach for national deployment. This individual is adept in innovative transportation strategies, including clean transportation (primarily electrification and hydrogen) technologies and best practices. The individual will work with internal partners, such as leaders from Maintenance and Professional Services, as well as external partners, such as vehicle and component manufacturers, infrastructure partners, and clean transportation consultants.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Define the MV Zero Emission Strategy and submit for executive approval. The strategy should include the business plan and go-to-market approach outlining: MV’s role in the transition to clean transportation, Areas where MV will build capability, Areas where MV will partner with other organizations, How MV can support and lead a client through the full zero emission journey.

  • Develop comprehensive documentation regarding the zero emissions fleet and infrastructure.

  • Facilitate curricula relative to zero emission vehicle fleet maintenance.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert within the organization on clean transportation. Gather and analyze market insights to inform all aspects of the job. Attend conferences to keep up with industry advances. Build a network of industry leaders.

  • Build relationships with and learn from existing clients’ zero emissions journeys to understand process, pain points, and how MV can support, including: LA DOT, Microsoft, NCTD, Santa Clarita.

  • Identify new business models and services that will position MV for growth, and develop the plan to execute on those business models. This may include capacity building within the company to be able to provide consultation on the following: Vehicles/OEM that are best suited for certain types of service.

  • Required infrastructure, including: Facility selection (where applicable), Renewable energy approach, Public Utility, On site storage, Battery sizing, Chargers, types and location TCO and financial analysis of the shift to zero emission fleets, Support planning of routes, schedules and operations, Maintenance strategy.

TALENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS/BA degree and a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Urban Planning, Engineering or a related field and six (6) years of full-time, related experience, at least two (2) years of which must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or a satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements.

  • Strategic leadership: Experience in identifying research and project opportunities that can achieve organizational objectives; experience in achieving organizational objectives through work and balancing priorities; ability to influence strategies and programs of other organizations.

  • Project management: Experience in initiating and delivering complex strategy and research projects including gaining buy in and inputs from key stakeholders, managing the input of others, developing and delivering project plans and achieving policy and strategic objectives.

  • Experience and training in data analytics tools like Excel, Python, Alteryx, Tableau or other analytical platforms is a plus.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization.

  • Ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysis. Capability to drive an independent workstream and/or multiple assignments in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to understand and analyze technical and protocol specifications for a particular problem domain.

  • Excellent communication skills, including experience in public speaking, oral and written presentations.
