We seek an experienced Light Rail Communication Systems Inspector for an immediate position.

Only applicants with Railway or Railroad Communication Systems Inspection experience will be considered.

Position Expectations
The inspector observes installation of communication systems for light rail trains alignment. Observations are recorded in daily reports, photographs, sketches, and messages to engineers. This position works autonomously but with regular check-ins with the inspection team, construction management team and government agency staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Observes construction activities related to installation of communication systems.
  • Have experience demonstrating ability to use codes, specs and drawings to ensure installation complies for installation of SCADA, fiber optics, access control, PA system, emergency telephone, speakers, CCTV in light rail industry (preferred) and/or in heavy rail industry.
  • Prepares Daily Inspection Reports with photographs, sketches, and messages to engineers.
  • Review installation plans, specifications, and other plans to assess conformance of installed work as designed.
  • Identifies and document need for field changes and make recommendations.
  • May enforce conformance with applicable safety standards, regulations, and codes.
  • Participates in team meetings to discuss construction details and resolves issues with contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Identifies and document on-site project progress, problems, and resolutions. Reports on and alerts appropriate team members of non-conformance issues. Monitors and documents correction of project deficiencies.
  • Follow specified COVID-19 protocol for safety and health.

Requirements
  • Project experience as an inspector, supervisor, or foreman on electrical installation.
  • Minimum 5 years of related inspection experience applicable to the system being monitored.
  • Must attend training in preparing Inspection Daily Report that meets government agency requirements.
  • Must have excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong report-writing skills and ability to present orally to owners, clients, and general contractor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with contractors and to resolve field problems.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate MS Office suite.
