Jackson Hole is a dynamic resort community, gateway to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The Southern Teton Area Rapid Transit (START) System seeks a qualified individual to lead a county wide transit system carrying over a million riders each year. Position works closely with a 7 member Joint Powers Board and reports to the Town Manager, manages a department comprised of 18 full time staff members and approximately 70 winter seasonal drivers, and oversees an annual operating budget of approximately $6 million. Salary $87,000 - $143,000 DOQ.

This individual will be responsible for policy work with the START Board, Town Council and County Commission, program implementation, operations, integration and cooperation with Comprehensive Plan Transportation Lead, and securing grant funding. Mandatory skills include; exceptional oral/written communication, demonstrated leadership, maintaining effective working relationships with multiple elected and appointed board members, human resource management, interpersonal, consensus building and participative management, preparation and administration of Federal grants and grant applications, and budgeting and financial analysis of programs.

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications include: BA/BS degree in applicable field (Masters preferred) plus five (5) years of increasingly responsible transit management experience at the top level. The ideal candidate will have experience in a resort community in the management and operation of a transit system, or a Regional Transportation Authority.
