Job Purpose or Scope:
The Sr. Director Business Development will work to develop a comprehensive internal and external strategy plan for growth of new business as well as retention across all First Transit Operating segments. Upholds the mission, values and vision established by the Company, the President and the SVP of Business Development & Marketing.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Overall sales pipeline development and overall leadership for the organization that supports sales and business development efforts of the First Transit business in North America and internationally as needed

  • Manages the overall bid process and directing the presentations and proposals to strategically win new business

  • Directs and develops Sales team in all aspects of a world-class sales function and service delivery optimization

  • Builds and maintains relationships with key decision-makers and influencers, both externally and internally

  • Assists with planning industry trade shows and events

  • Secures new business and retention goals based on FY Budgeted growth expectations decided between the Sr. Director and SVP

  • Attends and Negotiates with prospective clients with the company’s best interests in mind

  • Assists SVP with corporate strategy of growth and emerging trends

  • Assists SVP with reporting/presentations regarding business development for shareholder meetings and global corporate presentations

  • Assist Business Development with salesforce environment and data analytics

  • Determines which customers to approach, define the strategy, prioritize the pipeline

  • Sets priorities within the scope of the position, working with all levels of employees

  • Determines pricing model assumptions to be reviewed by the Executive Team

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline or commensurate work experience

Experience & Skills Required
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of sales experience, within Transportation industry preferred

  • Proven skills in sophisticated sales techniques

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with exemplary listening and inquisitive abilities.

  • Combination of sales leadership skills and operations management

  • Expert in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Expert in CRM Software, Salesforce

  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to change quickly

  • Must flourish in fast paced, complex environment

  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone. Must have the ability to travel up to 50% of the time across North America
