Seeking Electrical Engineer for a New York City Transit (NYCT) new technology rail vehicle project in greater New York City area. Candidate will support the Project Manager in technical matters and provide engineering oversight of rail vehicle contractor’s design, production and testing work. Candidate will review project technical documentation; interface with the contractor, client and consultants; and prepare reports to document the work performed. Candidate must be able to perform a combination of office and field related engineering duties under minimal supervision. Requires verbal and written communication skills to confer with the PM Team members and contractor employees at all levels. Able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy.

Local travel to project sites and some travel outside of NYC to visit car manufacturer assembly plant and supplier facilities will be required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide Project Management (PM) and engineering support, as required.
  • Engineering review of car builder’s design and data submittals.
  • Interpret plans, schematics, specifications and other contract documents to ensure work compliance.
  • Review of car builder’s production standards and processes.
  • Assist with the development of specification compliance test procedures.
  • Assist in car design & testing issues root-cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Attend project meetings and document meeting proceedings.
  • Attend design review meetings to ensure design conformance.
  • Prepare reports that identify work progress and areas of concern.

Requirements
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in rail vehicle transit projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-starter, able to step into the position with minimum job orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to write clear and precise specifications, procedures and reports.
  • Familiarity with the rail transit industry standards desired.
  • Ability to effectively address and resolve project related issues.
  • High integrity, detail oriented, and flexibility to travel.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
