KL2 Connects LLC has been retained by the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) to recruit a Chief Engineer.

SFRTA is a tri-county public transit authority operating out of Pompano Beach, Florida and serving Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. The organization was created in 2003 by the Florida Legislature and enacted by the Florida Department of Transportation. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the leadership, direction, and effective management of SFRTA’s MOW department, which oversees track and signal maintenance and related capital projects associated with SFRTA’s obligations to maintain the South Florida Rail Corridor (SFRC).

The winning candidate will have proven and in-depth knowledge in Rail operations safety practices including Roadway Worker Protection (RWP); on-track vehicle safety regulations; FRA requirements applicable to maintenance of track and signals; principles and practices of project management; and MOW records management systems. The position requires an accredited degree in transportation, engineering, or a related field plus eight years of progressively responsible professional level experience in managing MOW departments including experience overseeing track and signal maintenance; related capital projects; contract oversight; and project management. Your background should include comprehensive experience in signal maintenance and construction as well as maintenance of track, roadbeds, and bridges (including trestle bridges) for either passenger or freight railroads.
