Located in Michigan, the Interurban Transit Partnership, known as “The Rapid,” has engaged Krauthamer & Associates to conduct a national recruitment for an effective, experienced, innovative and knowledgeable candidate to take on the role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The Rapid provides fixed route bus and on-demand response and paratransit services to the greater Grand Rapids metro area. A highly regarded mid-sized transit agency in the industry, The Rapid’s services are a cornerstone to the Grand Rapids community, providing a safe, reliable transportation network that its customers depend on to get to work and stay connected to the community.

The Rapid also operates the only two Bus Rapid Transit routes in the State, the second opening just a few weeks ago! The new Laker Line BRT route is expected to bring development to the area between Grand Valley State University and downtown Grand Rapids as well as improving traffic conditions and current services.

The CEO will be responsible for providing overall general management and leadership of the Agency. The scope of the role will include the day-to-day management of all ITP employees with oversight of finance, administration, and operations. Furthermore, the CEO will be responsible for directing and implementing The Rapid’s short- and long-term strategic vision and plan.

The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manage and lead an organization committed to excellence of service and community engagement. The CEO will be required to collaborate and effectively engage with The Rapid’s 15-member Board of Directors, customers, employees, union, the greater Grand Rapids community and government agencies at the federal, state, and local level. The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership skills managing at an executive level in a similar organization. Candidates with a bachelor’s and master's degree are preferred, but experience in lieu of education will be considered.
