ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SporTran is seeking a Bus Maintenance Trainer. The Bus Maintenance Trainer will manage, develop and teach the technicians in a fixed route bus repair shop. Observe and instruct all diagnosis and repair aspects of the maintenance operation. Assures that all contractual requirements are achieved and that maintenance staff are trained in accordance with the OEM diagnosis and repair procedures.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of RTA Fleet Management Software

  • Must have experience with transit bus and or heavy/medium truck maintenance.

  • Must be able to prioritize, implement and manage projects and assignments.

  • Excellent knowledge of the repair, maintenance of diesel and CNG powered equipment.

  • Willing to learn Battery Electric Technology

  • Able to supervise and evaluate students

  • Must be ASE certified, or able to obtain within 6 months

  • Must be able to obtain a CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement within 120 days of employment

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff in written and oral formats.

  • Must have computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Excel and Outlook.

  • Must display initiative, professionalism, candor and tact at all times.

  • Must possess people development skills.

  • Able to design and develop training materials and modules

  • Track employee training course

  • Schedule and coordinate training with outside vendors

  • Conducts monthly training meetings

  • Able to become familiar with OSHA guidelines and requirements

  • Coach and guide students to achieve success

  • Manage classroom conditions to ensure an optimal level of learning

  • Able to work varying shifts if needed

  • Monitor, evaluate and document student progress

  • Develop and track individual employee learning plans

  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and SporTran employees

  • Technical background that includes the following: Engines, transmissions, electrical, air systems, air conditioning, chassis, electronics controls.

  • Ability to recognize patterns in spreadsheets and databases

  • Ability to interact in a positive manner within a strongly diverse workforce.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • College Degree or 15 years work equivalent experience

  • MUST be able to walk, kneel, bend, push and/or pull to complete moderate to heavy lifting when necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
