Job Purpose: Ensure the successful functioning of all phases of Safety at location by designing and overseeing implementation of driver hiring, training and safety programs, and maintaining compliance with Federal, State and Company regulations.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Formulate action plans for accident reduction, workers’ compensation claims reduction, recruitment, and safety management.

  • Ensure location is OSHA compliant and make appropriate recommendations to location management as necessary.

  • Assist general manager in resolving employee relations problems, meeting company objectives and promoting a safety culture.

  • Train and Manage Road / Field Supervisors, BTW and Cadet Instructors throughout the location.

  • Oversee and process medical, workers’ compensation claims and accident reporting.

  • Oversee and coordinate all hourly staff training at location need to comply with contract and company service and safety standards

  • Conduct supervisor meetings, train-the-trainer certification workshops, and driver meetings

  • Oversee driver DOT / FTA compliance for drug testing and recordkeeping

  • Oversee coaching of Lytx drivecam employee events and performs analysis of location events trends in order to improve safety performance and mitigate unsafe trends.

  • Deploy company and region safety programs and initiatives to location personnel. Attend monthly region safety calls.

  • Obtain and maintain First Transit Instructor Certification and First Aid/CPR Instructor certification

  • Acts as lead for location in HIPAA and FMLA tracking and location compliance.

  • Assist GM with annual budget preparation for the safety and training department expenses.

Experience & Skills Required:
  • 4 year college Degree preferred, or significant work experience in lieu of degree

  • 3-5 years of transit management experience

  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Familiarity with basic vehicle mechanical processes and maintenance

  • Proven positive leadership experience with hourly employees and knowledge of Human Resources issues

  • Effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively and appropriately interact with all levels of employees, drivers, senior managers, clients, union officials and general public; fluent in English

  • Working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Company rules and regulations

  • Hold and maintain a First Transit Instructor Certification and TSI

  • Hold and maintain a current DOT medical clearance
