The City and County of Honolulu is seeking an experienced Communication Systems Manager - Rail, for the nation's first driverless urban rail system.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position provides leadership and oversight for the operations and maintenance of the rail telecommunication systems including, but not limited to, two-way radio, microwave radio, fiber optic cable plant, Ethernet networks, Advanced Train Control Systems, closed-circuit television, intrusion alarms, public address, SCADA, digital information displays, and fare collection; and is accountable for the monitoring and direct observation of inspections, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, operation, alteration, and repair of telecommunication systems; responsible for quality assurance measures and support necessary to monitor, review, and analyze the performance of the operations and maintenance service contractor with regard to the complex computer-based electronic communications, control systems, and communication assets of the Honolulu Rail System, to ensure a safe, reliable, and customer driven rail service.
REQUIREMENTS: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a bachelors degree in an engineering specialty and five years of experience performing engineering work involving telecommunication systems and infrastructure as a primary function, three of which must have included working in a rail operations and maintenance environment.
