We are seeking a Transit Superintendent for Safety. Our ideal candidate is a dedicated people leader with experience planning, developing and administering comprehensive and effective bus and rail fleet safety programs to ensure passenger and employee safety, mitigation of loss and risk to transit resources and compliance with all applicable local, state and federal codes and regulations.

In this role, you will:
  • Supervise, develop and implement overall safety objectives, programs and work plan for the Transit Division. Ensure compliance with all contractual and legislative requirements and regulations as well as with all Transit Division operating policies and procedures.

  • Lead and promote safety awareness and culture throughout transit operations

  • Review all accident investigations. Participate as a key member of critical incident investigation teams.

  • Create harmonious working relationships with multiple collective bargaining units and ensure consistent application of labor policies, contract provisions and hiring guidelines; fulfill required responsibilities in grievance and arbitration processing and adjudication.

  • Recommend and implement division-wide safety performance measurement goals and work effectively with Transit staff to establish the programs, systems and processes required to fulfill those goals. Forecast, track and report on safety and accident statistics, overall safety program effectiveness, cost trends and similar performance metrics.

  • Provide supporting data and recommendations to management in the formulation of the safety operating and capital improvement budgets.

We are looking for candidates who meet the following minimum qualifications: Three to five years of increasingly responsible experience dedicated to transportation safety, traffic safety and/or industrial safety AND one year of lead or supervisory experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the applicant the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the work.
