Transdev’s San Francisco Paratransit Operations has provided paratransit service to San Francisco since 2014, providing regular ADA paratransit services, group services and shopping and cultural group services. The system is comprised of a revenue fleet of 150 vehicles and approximately 200 employees.

The Assistant General Manager assists the General Manager in the day to day operations; directly overseeing the Operations department. The Assistant General Manager in close coordination with the General Manager will offer involvement in the Maintenance, Call Center, Finance and Labor Relations functions. This is an excellent opportunity, coming at a perfect time with a new Driver Shift Bid taking effect, rehabilitation projects underway to the operations and maintenance facilities, new vehicles under order, and providing local career growth and long-term national career growth potential.

Description: A successful Assistant General Manager will possess extensive public transportation Operations experience and supervisory/management experience. Responsible to monitor Operations’ quality of service, drivers’ work performance and adherence to rules and policies including attendance, On Time Performance, and customer service. Works closely with the General Manager and the Safety and Training Manager to instill a safety culture throughout the organization. Responsible to embrace the firm yet fair work environment in place; demonstrating leadership and teambuilding skills. Responsible to oversee, coach, and discipline employees; recognizing and coordinating appropriate training and growth opportunities for those within the department. Must be able to work in fast-paced environment, apply proven processes, use industry and company software and programs, and work well with others.

Job Duties:
  • Follows general policies, procedures and practices in compliance with federal, state, local and company rules and regulations
  • Provides direction, leadership and support to the day to day operations of the system to ensure attainment and sustaining Transdev and client goals and objectives within established policies and parameters
  • Monitors operating performance, facilitates a safe and team focused environment, facilitates problem resolution, and directs efforts to achieve continual improvement in service quality
  • Supervises staff and responsible to direct, coach, discipline and retrain consistently and within established guidelines
  • Documents employee actions within established guidelines
  • Works in cooperation with other managers and supervisors to ensure seamless, safe, high quality service to passengers
  • Develops successful working relationships with the client, union representatives, advisory board members, group agencies, dialysis centers and passengers
  • Embraces Transdev’s safety vision; adopts and employs the company’s safety rules, policies, and procedures; effectively communicates safety and on time service expectations and maintains accountability for the performance of Operations
  • Coordinates with the General Manager and departmental managers in the budgeting, finance, human resource, maintenance functions
  • Oversees and provides timely response and services to all community concerns regarding the paratransit operations
  • Provide oral and written reports, statistics, data and information internally and externally
  • Maintains complete confidentiality of all information
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Transportation, Logistics or Business Administration.
  • Five years’ experience in public transportation, with paratransit experience preferred.
  • Experience with Trapeze paratransit software preferred.
  • Possession of CDL Class C, B or A license. If candidate selected is not licenses, must be able to become licensed within 120 days of employment.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize, be detail oriented, and use good judgment.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Must be proficient with computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and possess the ability to master industry and company software used in operations, scheduling, dispatching and payroll.
  • Must be able to take a leadership role in solving problems.
  • Must demonstrate satisfactory technical knowledge.
  • Must be able to pass an employment physical examination (pre-employment) and substance abuse.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work shifts or flexible work schedules indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
  • Periods of sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen in an office or in a cubicle space
  • Periods of walking and standing outside during operations’ events
  • Periods of sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle while driving
