Get on Board with SMART! Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) is looking for a Marketing and Communications professional with strong graphic design and Adobe Photoshop skills to join our Community Outreach team. The Community Outreach and Marketing Coordinator will assist with creating and implementing programs to increase awareness of SMART including: the development and implementation of effective social media and digital programs; assisting the Communications and Marketing Manager on marketing programs and materials; developing high-quality content for both online and printed materials; coordinating multiple projects and events; and other associated tasks. The Community Outreach and Marketing Coordinator may also serve as the agency representative for assigned projects, which includes responding to public inquiries, assisting with outreach meetings and events and coordinating activities and reports related to SMART’s rail and bicycle/pedestrian project.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops social media and digital programs and content to increase public awareness and promote the agency’s overall goals and mission.

  • Works directly with the Communications and Marketing manager in the development of marketing programs, materials and collateral.

  • Coordinates assigned community outreach meetings, which includes creating and coordinating all publications, advertisements in local publications and attending events as the SMART representative and responding to project related questions.

  • Works with the Communications and Marketing Manager on marketing programs, outreach events, informational materials, advertisements, and displays;

  • Preparation of agendas and presentation materials for community outreach meetings, special events and public hearings as needed.

  • Assists in the scheduling, negotiating cost and purchasing of media space and time.

  • Preparation or facilitation of responses to public questions and correspondence.

  • May participate in meetings and promotions on weekends and evenings;

  • Performs related work as required.

  • Sufficient training, education and experience to demonstrate the required knowledge skills and abilities. Typically, a Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications or a related field.

  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field, or an equivalent thereof.

  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required at the time of appointment.

Salary Range: $35.94 - $43.67 per hour
