Overview
The Transit Paratransit Planner will be responsible to plan paratransit group service delivery and will assist with planning, developing and administering programs, studies, patterns, trends and reports. The position is responsible to use GIS geospatial data in analysis of schedules and projects.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze service for quality, trip or passenger trends and patterns, reviewing for opportunities to improve productivity of service

  • Assists with developing short and long range service plans and group services

  • Evaluates trip provision to common addresses or locations to analyze determine the ability to combine individual trips for productivity

  • Perform GIS geospatial data collection and analysis

  • Monitors scheduling to ensure compliance with regulations, including those addressing rest and meal breaks

  • Successfully enters data and tracks data, maintains data including file back-ups and documentation file

  • Develops with Operations and corporate assistance a shift bid twice a year, and works with management to conduct and implement each bid

  • Coordinates with the ACCESS and GROUP dispatching and scheduling processes

  • Track, compile and analyze performance, and handle interdepartmental issues,

  • Prepares and presents reports to management, and to internal and external persons, groups or committees

  • Coordinate with management to improve service delivery, streamline and improve processes and trip scheduling

  • Demonstrates proficiency with computer software to schedule and manage passenger trips

  • Demonstrates excellent team spirit and internal customer service

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service to individuals, businesses and groups

  • Seeks and provides information to employees as needed; providing friendly, professional customer service interaction, responds to employee questions regarding all types of scheduling questions

  • Maintains confidentiality of all information

  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:
  • Completion of two years college, with College Degree preferred

Experience:
  • 3 to 4 years of relevant professional experience

  • Previous relevant transit experience preferred; with Trapeze Scheduling or Dispatching experience preferred


Skills and Knowledge Required:
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, and good aptitude to learn specialized software

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret instructions, policies, and procedures

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to details

  • Travel requirement (as a percent) : <5% for occasional meetings


Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Must submit to non-DOT drug testing and a background check

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.

  • 90% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities

  • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer.

  • The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
