JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Shift Supervisor is to oversee the daily work required to maintain the fleet of revenue and non-revenue vehicles for the transit system. The Maintenance Shift Supervisor monitors work tasks to ensure safety and so that all city, state, regional, and federal guidelines and regulations are met or exceeded.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
  • Oversees shop performance and productivity.
  • Reviews Pre-Trip Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports to develop work orders and address any defects
  • Compiles and completes work orders to effectively and safely schedule repairs and maintenance of vehicles
  • Assigns work tasks and work orders to Mechanics, Service Workers and Utility Workers
  • Monitors, records, and reports daily issues as reported from the Operations department
  • Responds to road calls and minimizes delays in service
  • Ensures that all needed vehicles are ready for service
  • Ensures repairs are completed safely, and in a timely manner
  • Ensures vehicles are cleaned and fueled
  • Ensures technology sub-systems, fareboxes, radio, Avail, cameras are functioning properly
  • Prepares available fleet report for the Operations department
  • Completes daily shift reports and ensures that the next shift is aware of any outstanding issues or priority tasks
  • Compiles readings and measurements for daily reports.
  • Analyzes test results or report data to develop cost reducing practices.
  • Compiles information to develop/maintain database used for fleet maintenance and reporting.
  • Obtains parts and supplies needed to complete repair and maintenance work
  • Issues discipline and corrective action
  • Ensures safe working conditions and practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate Degree in Business Management or Administration preferred.
  • At least three (3) years’ supervisory experience in maintenance or public transit industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possesses valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation
  • Obtains within three (3) months of employment and maintains a Commercial Driver License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB
  • Frequently communicates with employees and customers in person, on the telephone, and on the computer to provide assistance
  • Occasionally remains in a sitting position at a desk to perform customer service duties
  • Frequently walks and or stands
  • Frequently uses the computer with fingers and hands
  • Frequently exposed to outside elements of extreme heat and cold
  • Occasionally operates a motor vehicle, including revenue and non-revenue support vehicles
  • Frequently exposed to fumes, odors, hazardous materials, dirt and dust.
  • Occasionally lifts objects weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds when moving supplies.
  • Often required to stoop, bend, or kneel.
