As Spokane Transit accelerates into the future of public transportation with its STA Moving Forward initiative, it is imperative that we ensure continuity of services provided from our Fixed Route Department and consistently apply applicable laws, policies, and procedures during our day to day operations. STA is looking for a strong operations leader to with experience within a unionized environment who will assist the Senior Transportation manager in maintaining and improving our day-to-day Fixed Route operations by providing leadership and direction to the Fixed Route Supervisors and Coach Operators.

  • Possesses effective communication skills to report to senior agency administrators interact with union officials, and assist in resolving personnel related issues.

Example of Duties
  • Assists in the planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing activities and functions of the Fixed Route Transportation Department.

  • Responsible for coordination of fixed route detours and temporary service adjustments.

  • Assist the supervision, evaluation, and record keeping of the performance of coach operators.

  • Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data for on time performance, ridership, schedule and routing, safety and loss, and budget information.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Transportation, Public Administration, or a similar field.

  • Four years of progressively more responsible experience in operations including at least three years’ experience in a supervisor capacity, transit experience preferred.

  • Experience within the Microsoft environment. Experience with transit related software preferred (Trapeze).
