Trinity Metro has an immediate opening for a Director of Safety. The purpose of this position is to provide management and technical skills necessary to create, analyze and recommend safety programs and measures designed to promote a safe environment and to minimize risks at Trinity Metro. The purpose of this position is to oversee the Company’s safety program at each work site, and to educate, train, promote a safety culture and ensure compliance with all federal, state, local laws and safety, health and environmental policies.

This positions responsibilities include:
  • Monitors Trinity Metro’s exposure to risks and recommends measures to reduce risks; monitors FTA rulings related to safety and health issues; verifies compliance with all federal, state, and local regulation. Keeps abreast of updates and new regulations relating to safety.

  • Designs, promotes and manages a safety program that promotes a consistent culture of safety throughout all Trinity Metro locations.

  • Ensures contract compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and company regulations for Trinity Metro and ACCESS contractors; ensures that related record keeping and reporting requirements are met and maintained; provides support in implementing approved recommendations.

  • Manages the gathering and analysis of related performance and statistical data to identify areas of exposure. Produce monthly reports on performance measurements, safety committee progress, inspection results to management monthly.

  • Manage all aspects of the implementation, administration and coordination of the Safety Management System and serves as the Company’s SMS subject matter expert.

  • Acts as the Company’s chief safety officer and manages the safety function within the transit agency.

  • Take a proactive approach to safety by auditing driver records, Company and contractor, to ensure compliance with all DOT safety regulations. Conduct ongoing safety training

  • Oversees the safety committee, facilitates meetings and follows-up on pending items, as necessary. Review minutes to ensure accuracy and reports concerns to the VP/COO.

  • Conducts monthly safety meetings with employees (drivers, staff and maintenance) that promote the overall safety program and focuses on reaching the goals outlined in the program.

  • Ensures that all accidents and incidents are thoroughly investigated. Reviews and analysis data for trends and to understand root cause.

  • Manages the Work Compensation program. Handles and submits promptly and efficiently all claims. Works with the third party administrator in an effort to reduce financial liability, as well as recoup any subrogation claims.

  • Create and manage a light duty program to manage any potential lost time.

  • Works collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure safety initiatives are met.

  • Maintains confidential information.

  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.


EXPERIENCE
  • Current designation of TSSP required (or the ability to get the TSSP by the FTA deadline).

  • Four years of professional experience in Safety and Training working with FTA, DOT and knowledge of all safety rules.


EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Risk Management or Industrial Health and Safety.

  • Any combination of experience, training and/or education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may substitute for the required education.
