CATA is looking to fill a mid-level, management position that ensures the most effective delivery of transportation services. The preferred candidate will have experience in bus operations, employee relations and training standards. This position oversees the hiring and training of the operations department and provides leadership and organizational direction to the team. The preferred candidate will have 5 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination. The purpose of this position is to manage CATA’s daily fixed route operations, ensuring compliance with FTA, USDOT, PennDOT, ADA, and other pertinent regulations. This position monitors employee performance, identifies safety issues, addresses operational needs, and ensures the most effective delivery of transportation services. The operations manager also develops recommendations to change systems, policies, and procedures Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are:

• Oversees transit operations, including the operations training program, and ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations

• Directs, coordinates, and reviews the work plan for assigned transit operations services and activities; assigns work activities and projects; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods and procedures; meets with staff to identify and resolve problems

• Motivates and evaluates operations personnel; provides or coordinates non-represented operations staff training; works with direct reports to correct deficiencies; recommends and carries out discipline

• Assists in managing employee and labor relations for the operations division; participates in the effective resolution of differences between management and labor; participates as a member of the collective bargaining agreement negotiations team as needed

• Oversees the timely review of complaints, accidents, and incidents involving transit operations

• Works with the maintenance manager and safety/training manager to establish mutually acceptable procedures

• Works with the ADA/paratransit manager to ensure compliance with ADA and Title VI

**CDL Class B with passenger endorsement and air brake restriction lifted is required within one year of hire.**

Expected starting salary is between $70,265 and $82,664; dependent upon experience and qualifications
