BWP are currently representing a leading transport operator who have an exciting opportunity available in the Middle East for a Rail Maintenance Director.

Overview:
Under the direction of the Senior Director Rail Operations, the Rail Maintenance Director is responsible for decisions in regards to maintenance of the rail system during revenue and non-revenue operations. Establishes operational policies and procedures consistent with the Board of Directors requirements and organisations internal policies. Manages and mentors the rail maintenance staff and works with vendors to ensure the physical assets of the light rail system are designed, constructed, maintained and operated in conformance with the organisations objective of providing efficient and cost effective public transit services. Responds to system daily operations and emergencies 24 hours/7 days a week. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.

Responsibilities and Specific Duties:
  • Provides primary managerial direction and performs personnel administrative functions of direct report staff (e.g. training, supervising, work assignments, timesheets, performance evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining necessary staffing, enhancing productivity of staff and ensuring necessary department outcomes are achieved.

  • Directs the Rail Maintenance division and is administratively responsible for the activities of personnel and resources engaged in Traction Power, Track Maintenance and Light Rail Vehicle functions including inspection, preventive maintenance service repair, overhaul and cleaning.

  • Monitors the Rail (Traction Power, Track, Rolling Stock and LRV) maintenance programs for strict adherence to rail transit regulations and practices.

  • Ensures that Maintenance of Way systems and equipment are maintained to the highest level of safety standards to achieve the maximum level of reliability and availability.

  • Develops and manages Rail Maintenance Capital Replacement programs.

  • Provides logistical planning efforts required for the Rail Capital Asset Replacement program.

  • Monitors rail construction activities and participates in integrated testing as required.

  • Coordinates vehicle testing and commissioning programs with the vehicle supplier and has responsibility for final acceptance of the LRV's.

  • Directs and oversees the established training, safety, warranty, technical services and quality assurance programs. Supports testing and start-up activities for Traction Power, Track and Light Rail Vehicles.

  • Develops annual operating budget and maintenance costs and life cycle calculations.

  • Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.


Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in rail vehicle maintenance and/or rail systems elements with a minimum of five (5) years supervisory/management experience in rail maintenance is required.
