Statement of Purpose: To identify and resolve operational problems; to ensure that all electronic data collection and reporting systems are fully operational and that Drivers are utilizing the data systems correctly; to ensure that fares are collected and processed in a safe and efficient manner; to monitor operational performance statistics and ensure that the performance levels of the individual routes and the full system are within the established performance criteria; to ensure that Drivers are providing safe, courteous, and on-time transportation to the public; to perform road supervision and dispatch services.
Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities: - Conduct road observations to evaluate Drivers
- Train, certify, and coach Drivers on job task performance, Safety, Conduct, and other opportunities
- Conduct investigations on accidents, incidents, complaint, substance abuse reasonable suspicion, and other issues
- Assigns Drivers to appropriate buses.
- Assists Drivers in preparation for duty.
- Ensures alternate coverage when relieving Drivers for duty.
- Identifies and resolves operational problems.
- Monitors the departure of buses.
- Performs dispatch in order to assist Drivers with route changes and other situations.
- Maintains bus and equipment inventory levels and ensures that vehicle and equipment maintenance issues are addressed in a timely manner.
- Provides the public with verbal information regarding routes, schedules, and transfer points.
- Maintain the cleanliness and security of the buses and bus yard.
- Operate Bus as needed when drivers aren’t available to run routes
- Recommend selection and disciplinary action to the Operations Manager based on independent judgement
- Performs any other duties, as assigned by management.
- Management of day-to-day operations
Minimum Job Requirements: - High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED); some college is desirable
- Experience in public transit operations
- Supervisory experience
- Valid Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a P (passenger) endorsement from the state of Arizona
- Current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical clearance
- Current 5-year motor vehicle record (MVR) free of criminal violations and with 3 or fewer points
- Free of felony record
- Reliable transportation to and from work
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: - Knowledge of major streets, public places, and landmarks within the local geographic service area
- Proficiency in using computers and electronic equipment to collect, process, and report data
- Good customer service skills
- Knowledge of safety and service issues on buses
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, management, and the public
Work Environment: - Work is normally performed in both a typical office work environment and in a bus yard
