SUMMARY:
Provide safe and courteous and on-time transportation to the general public in a variety of mass transit vehicles, performs pre- and-post-trips vehicle inspections, cleaning and servicing to assist in maintaining vehicles in a safe operating condition, follow a regular schedule of pick-ups and drop-offs at route stops and terminals, adhere to traffic regulations, collect fares, provide verbal information to the public regarding routes, schedules and transfer points, communicate and interact with individuals of various backgrounds and abilities, provide assistance to disabled ridership through the operation of lifts and other special devices; communicate with Operation Manager and Supervisors by radio and provide verbal and written reports; respond to operational issues and the public per prescribed policy. Perform any other duties deemed necessary by Management or Supervisors.

ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities
Duties to include, but not limited to:

• Safely operate a bus and provide excellent customer service to passengers

• Perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections

• Follow routes and ensure on time performance

• Adhere to traffic regulations

• Collect fares and issue transfers

• Able to provide verbal information to the public regarding routes, schedules and transfer points

• Respond to operational issues

• Maintain a clean bus as needed and daily

• Perform any other duties as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 23 years old

• Minimum High School diploma or GED

• 2 or more years of experience operating a transit vehicle

• Current DOT Physical

• Either have a valid State of Arizona Class B CDL driver’s license with a P (Passenger) endorsement or qualify for one during initial training

• Reliable transportation to/from work

• Ability to read, speak and write in English (Spanish speaking a plus)

• Knowledge of major streets, public places and landmarks within local geographic service area

• Physical strength to assist disabled persons in boarding and disembarking

• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds

• Excellent customer service skills

• State Certified and School Bus Endorsement a plus
