We are currently recruiting for a highly skilled and seasoned Community Development Manager to join the Planning and Community Development Division located in our Headquarters in Lakewood.

The Position:
The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator, and a confident public speaker with a gift for building strong and collaborative networks. The person we are looking for will work closely with stakeholders inside Pierce Transit and out in the community we serve to accomplish some very important objectives. They will have proven leadership skills, a deep commitment to public service and a record of success in program management.

Some of the regular functions in this role will include:
  • Planning, managing and executing opportunities to engage the public, actively participating in community relations, using traditional and innovative strategies to maximize outreach efforts aimed at increasing the use of Pierce Transit services.

  • Facilitating outreach activities to promote Pierce Transit services including bus ridership, vanpool, ORCA, and a variety of projects including Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).

  • Supervising, leading, and mentoring a team of professionals responsible for Agency outreach, community engagement, and the sale of business accounts

  • Representing the agency at various regional committees with partner agencies and municipalities.

  • Coordinating activities and projects with other Agency departments and other Local, State and Federal agencies and organizations.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field, (and)

  • Five (5) years of experience in community development, public relations, marketing, fundraising, or sales,

  • Experience above must include at least two (2) years of experience supervising staff and leading teams;


OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
