POSITION SUMMARY
Under the leadership of the Community Relations Manager, the Community Relations Specialist will act as liaison between different departments within the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) to assist with a variety of projects. The Community Relations Specialist will maintain a high degree of public awareness with community leaders, civic groups and other stakeholders by supporting both internal and external outreach initiatives promoting the economic and social benefits the RTA brings to the region.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Help coordinate partnership opportunities and events with local community leaders to ensure and enhance RTA’s presence within the community.

  • Represents the RTA in community, regional and industry initiatives to meet organizational goals and objectives consistent with the RTA’s mission.

  • Maintain a calendar of events and meetings to present and promote current and upcoming RTA projects to external audiences.

  • Works with RTA Communications staff on promoting customer information plans and programs, including special population training, community outreach plans and programs to convey the importance of RTA’s mission.

  • Participator and supporter of community outreach group meetings performed by RTA executive team and other staff members.

  • Process sponsorship-related requests, and submit required paperwork.

  • Updates community relation databases and other related sources of information.

  • Promotes goodwill for RTA internally and externally through consistent relationship building.

  • Assists in planning, implementing and evaluation of RTA's public relations efforts.

  • Supports the mission and goals of the RTA.

  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Affairs, Public Relations, or similar discipline. Equivalent work experience may be considered. Three (3) to five (5) years' of public relations/communications. Previous experience in Government Affairs and/or Marketing is a plus. Candidate must possess exceptional attention to details, strong communication skills – both written and verbal, and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Power Point, and Word.

GRADE: 13 Exempt Position
