The Transit Authority of River City (TARC) has an opportunity for an experienced, team oriented and energetic Director of Safety & Security. The successful candidate will be responsible to ensure that TARC customers receive the safest service possible, while creating a safe, accident-free workplace. Develops, implements, and maintains Authority wide safety and security programs to include system safety and security, hazard management, fire/life safety, employee, construction, industrial and environmental safety policies and programs. Ensures coordination and cooperation between the Department of Safety and all other TARC Departments. Has the responsibility to recommend the suspension of unsafe operations in order to protect employees, the public and property. May represent the Authority to federal agencies, local groups and organizations, professional associations, and other similar groups. Serves as the Authority's Fire Marshal.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in related field and up to five (5) years of related professional experience in the management, planning, compliance, and monitoring of operational safety, fire/life safety, industrial safety, construction safety, environmental safety, accidents/incidents & investigations, and safety project management activities. A combination of education, experience and training may be substituted when competency in the position is demonstrated. Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse community at all levels. Ability to counsel employees. Strong leadership, administrative, organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Valid driver’s license required.
