KL2 Connects LLC has been retained by VIA Metropolitan Transit to recruit the agency’s next Director of Management and Budget. VIA is at an exciting point in its history and this position will play a key role in its future. Reporting to VIA’s CFO, the winning candidate will direct the preparation of operating and capital budgets; the activities of grants administration; the preparation of VIA’s Strategic Business Plan; and the reporting of financial status. He/she will track performance metrics; conduct financial analyses; project manage special projects; and work with departments to analyze strategies.

Activities that will align system efficiency and quality with VIA’s mission and objectives will include working with departments to set/monitor objectives, metrics, and budgets; working with departments to conduct management reviews; conducting analyses for special projects; and developing the business case for innovation projects.

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting or a related field, five-plus years of budget/accounting experience (or the equivalent); knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Governmental Accounting Standards Board statements, theories, and practices; knowledge of Government Finance Officers Association principles; familiarity with legislation such as OMB Uniform Guidance 2 CFR Part 200; and knowledge of public budgeting. Transportation industry experience is preferred.
