The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.

The Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for Supervisor, Bus Maintenance. The Supervisor, Bus Maintenance is required to supervise vehicle repair, maintenance, and inspection. The employee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and personnel forecasting for the servicing of MTA buses and other vehicles. The work in this classification also involves tracking and executing provisions of the labor contract, MTA Rules, Regulations and Policies. Employees in this class directly supervise "A", "B", and "C" Repairmen and Cleaners. Employees receive general supervision from a Bus Maintenance Superintendent and other designated officials. Employees will be required to travel and work outdoors at various locations throughout the MTA service area in all types of weather conditions and perform other functions as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate, plus four (4) years of experience in repair, maintenance and inspection of heavy duty automotive vehicles and equipment. **Three (3) of the four (4) years must have been in the following: gasoline and diesel-powered vehicle maintenance; automotive mechanical and electrical systems maintenance; and interpreting automotive diagrams and schematics. **One (1) year of supervisory experience in a maintenance or related environment.

SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION
1. Additional technical or vocational training may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the experience requirement on a year for year basis.

U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Experience Requirement of the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and experience on the year-for year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Employee may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and may be required to maintain a reliable communication link for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.

  2. Employee will be required to work shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends.

  3. Employee may be exposed to a variety of hazards, requiring the wearing of protective clothing and the use of appropriate safety and Personal Protective Equipment.

  4. Employees in this position are considered "Essential Employees" and will be required to sign and agree to all policies and procedures relating to "Essential Employee" status.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Employees in this classification are assigned duties, which require the operation of a motor vehicle.

  • Employees will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
