The San Mateo County Transit District seeks an Accessibility Coordinator to coordinate accessibility for passengers with disabilities who use Redi-Wheels and RediCoast paratransit services, along with fixed-route bus services with San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) and commuter rail services with the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (Caltrain).

The Accessibility Coordinator will oversee customer service for paratransit and fixed-route bus services for customers with disabilities, serve as a liaison and support to the Paratransit Coordinating Council, the paratransit community and internal stakeholders in the planning and administration of accessible services, plan, organize, develop and monitor accessible transportation projects, monitor, evaluate and analyze performance of paratransit service contractors, work with contractors and internal staff to resolve operational issues, conduct thorough investigations and respond to elevated and sensitive customer service and rider discipline issues, prepare response letters, perform analytical tasks to monitor and evaluate for compliance the applications for ADA paratransit certification and paratransit operations, and administer corrective action if needed, perform data analysis (using quantitative methods), and conduct research studies to evaluate various aspects of customer access programs and projects, and paratransit planning projects, provide guidance on accessible fixed-route and paratransit services and policies in response to agency priorities, federal and state regulatory requirements, and recommendations from community stakeholders and coordinate the utilization of Trapeze and other technologies for the implementation of product upgrades, new Installations and for troubleshooting system issues.

S/he will also assist in the development of the department’s budget, tracking of spend, and addressing concerns, assist in the development of grant applications, develop scopes of work, cost estimates and evaluation criteria for Requests for Proposals for Accessible Services Contracts, support other departments as requested and prepare monthly departmental reports, special agenda items, data and analysis for the SamTrans Board of Directors, advisory groups, internal stakeholders and for the Federal Transit Administration.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning, Political Science or related field with three years full-time experience monitoring and evaluating transit or paratransit services, and investigating and responding to customer service issues in person and in writing, plus one year of supervisory or lead experience. Experience with project management is desirable. Must have effective oral and written communication skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of relational databases is preferred (ex. Access). Knowledge of computer software used in paratransit scheduling is preferred (ex.Trapeze).
