Position Summary: Under general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, this position performs analysis and reporting of agency data involving the organization, direction, and management of the transit system’s business performance. This includes the fiscal, operational and real-time system performance metrics. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to managing, tracking and monitoring service quality metrics and standards, then making recommendations that enable strategic decision making in support of the agency’s mission.
Essential Functions of this Position: - Manages and responsible for data mining and repository including the accurate and timely reporting of all metrics related material. Researches inconsistencies and anomalies in data, interprets findings, and develops a course of action.
- Implements and maintains performance management software solution for reporting, data warehouse, and dashboards.
- Deploys real-time dashboards and watch systems for identified metrics. Collaborates with departmental staff on data reporting needs and executes prioritized reporting.
- Coordinates agency participation in American Bus Benchmarking Group (ABBG) reporting, clearinghouse studies, surveys and follow up questions from Imperial College. Report to management ABBG results, identify areas for improvement, develop an action plan, monitor progress, and reports to management prior to annual and paratransit meetings.
- Reports passenger ridership and miles monthly and quarterly; reconciles APC, farebox and electronic fare data for accuracy and process improvements. Ensures accurate bus stop GPS locations for ridership, passenger miles, and on-time departure reporting.
Additional Responsibilities of this Position: - Assists other managers with reporting and metrics, as requested.
- Prepares reports and presentations as required.
Education and/or Experience: - Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college with major coursework related to Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent experience
- One year of experience understanding large amounts of data using data analysis, statistical inference, and programming.
Knowledge of: - Knowledge of arithmetic computations involving algebra and statistics
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL and ability to write SQL queries
- Knowledge of personal computers and current office software programs for word processing, email, spreadsheets and databases
Skill, Ability or Competency to: - Ability to problem solve by identifying alternative solutions
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform work activities with accuracy to meet deadlines, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to research, compile and analyze complex data and form sound conclusions.
- Ability to make oral presentations before senior management, employees, etc.
- Ability to recognize internal and external risk factors and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships
