Hampton Roads Transit is seeking an Application Administrator I to administer one or more enterprise software systems and play an important role in technical software support and implementations. Work with the Intelligent Transportation System applications team and Technology staff to ensure enterprise applications operate in a manner that enables HRT staff to meet organizational goals for increased ridership and improved operational efficiency. Take a broad, cross-departmental view of the organization, be willing to learn transit, organizational and departmental policies, processes and procedures to leverage system capabilities and promote effective use of the enterprise applications to meet organization goals and needs.
Essential Job Functions:
Serve as contact/liaison for functional users, ITS Services, IT technical staff, and system vendors. Provides technical support for ITS applications. Monitors ITS application software and hardware. Manage application security and user role/profile management.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Broad understanding of computer operating systems and databases. Ability to work independently and use good judgment in decisions affecting application administration.
Education and Experience:
BS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Systems or related field. Experience in administering Software Systems/Applications. Experience using GIS/mapping tools. A background in Information Technology, Intelligent Transportation Systems, or transit scheduling/planning/operations preferred.
Unusual Demands:
The nature of the job may require providing assistance to Enterprise Application users (primarily by phone but occasionally in person) in the evenings and on weekends.
