Lowcountry Regional Transportation Authority is a five-county public transit organization operating in the lower coastal South Carolina area. We are currently looking for an outgoing and energetic Assistant Director of Operations. This is a fast-paced position with a growing company that involves fixed route, demand response and commuter service oversight and responsibility.

Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Operations manages the structure, systems and procedures to assure all federal and state mandates are met both short and long term. Must perform and supervise a wide variety of duties to ensure compliance with the highest safety and customer standards. Currently oversees a staff of 5 in addition to 35 drivers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides leadership in employee relations issues, motivates staff, and is responsible for successful employee recruiting in a challenging labor market. Expected to be able to evaluate each subordinate’s strengths and weaknesses and be able to enable the team to work together to get all of the tasks accomplished. Must have experience in demand response services including scheduling software. Looking for a self starter that can play an integral role in expanding transit services. Ensure that employees are up to date on all required training. Investigates and follows up on all customer service concerns as well as other operational issues.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills: Requires an AA/AS Degree (BA/BS desirable) from an accredited two-year college or university with five years of progressively responsible supervision/management experience (transit experience desirable), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to multi-task daily; Proficient with MS Office Suite; Ability to learn new technology; Excellent phone and people skills; High level of written and oral communication skills; Must be organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines; Must be able to demonstrate sound judgment and high ethical standards.

Applicant must be available to work 7 days per week, including holidays and all shifts. Must have or obtain a South Carolina CDL, with B/P endorsements within 180 days of hire.
