The City of Yakima Transit Division needs a planner to perform professional and technical transit planning work focusing on both short and long range planning, facilities planning, assist in budget planning and special project planning. This position is responsible for grant functions including grant application, project management, and compliance documents, and other projects assigned by the Transit Manager.

Major duties performed by the Transit Project Planner : - Performs planning work focused on both short and long range transit planning, facilities planning, and special project planning. - Gathers, analyzes, and reports transit statistical data. - Drafts, edits and finalizes written and/or visual materials including but not limited to: correspondence, reports, and presentation/information packets. - Prepares and oversees capital and operating grants. - Assists in budget research, preparation, presentation and monitoring. - Provides Transit representation and perspective to various groups and agencies. - Designs, develops, and assists in implementation of programs needed to meet assigned department and division objectives.

MINIMUM CLASS REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited college or university, with major course work in transportation planning, urban planning, geography, civil engineering, or related field. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in planning and analysis. Transportation planning experience is preferred. Experience as a project manager (lead role) in a planning project or program is desired. A Master's degree may substitute for two (2) years' experience.
