MV Transportation is seeking an experienced Senior Vice President of Safety who will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for setting strategic direction for, and integration of safety, into all aspects of the business. The positions will develop, monitor, and implement company safety standards, goals and policies to ensure safety is a key value across the organization.

This position is located in Dallas, Texas. Relocation assistance is available.

In carrying out the above objectives, the Senior Vice President of Safety will:

• Lead efforts to develop and/or maintain the overall safety program for MV’s operations, including standards, policies, SOP’s, and guidance documents. • Provide leadership and support in the understanding and implementation of various components of MV’s safety program. • Direct regular safety audits to ensure all safe operations at all work locations and recommend changes to improve safety performance. • Engage region/division leadership to identify and mitigate risk, and reduce safety events. • Promote compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations governing safety and transit industry. • Establish effective working relationships with all management, employees, vendors and regulatory personnel to promote safe behaviors, safety programs, and regulatory compliance. • Work with clients and operations leadership to develop and implement specialized training and solutions to address safety concerns or trends in the industry. • Identify safety opportunities, understand the causes and contributing factors of the issues, and promote solutions. • Lead regional safety management teams by providing clear direction and specific goals while interacting with each member and acting as coach and mentor. • Serve as a safety subject matter expert for Legal, Risk Management, and other departments and ensure Company is in line with OSHA regulations and initiatives. • Demonstrate knowledge of environmental policy and drive strategy for permitting and operating in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.

This position is 70% travel.

Talent Requirements:

Education:

• BA or BS in Safety Management, Transportation or Engineering desired. • Master’s degree preferred. • Transportation industry certifications a plus. • CSM certification not required but preferred. • BCSP not required but preferred.

Experience:

• 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in a safety leadership or operations management role within the transit or transportation industry. • CDL preferred, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Teaching/training experience, strong knowledge of local, state and federal safety regulations, risk management, worker’s compensation and OSHA. • Knowledge of Environmental compliance. • Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
