About TRA
TRA provides management and technical consulting services to the transportation industry, especially in public transit operations, safety, security, and maintenance. TRA’s work includes auditing, safety programs and regulatory compliance assessments, and transit agency systems analyses.

Job Description
TRA’s Business Development Manager position will lead the company’s outreach to clients and potential clients, including government and public agencies, prime contractors, subcontractors, and other business stakeholders. The position is responsible for identifying, facilitating, and tracking business development meetings and efforts between TRA and external stakeholders.

TRA’s personnel, especially its principals, take an active role in finding new work, expanding existing work, and developing new markets -- the BD Manager will coordinate these efforts. The BD Manager will proactively identify conferences, meetings, potential clients, potential business partners, and other opportunities for TRA to expand its business in its core areas and in new areas that are outside of TRA’s traditional transportation field but relevant based on TRA’s technical skill sets. The BD Manager will contribute to scheduling, budgeting, tracking, and development of proposal and marketing materials. The BD Manager will also take an active role in developing, revising, and improving TRA’s internal business processes and procedures. The position will be a key part of TRA’s strategic development team.

For the BD Manager position, TRA requires an outgoing, independent, organized, and forward-thinking individual. A successful candidate will excel at interacting with both TRA personnel and external stakeholders. The successful candidate must have a positive attitude and very strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work both with our Philadelphia-based and off-site personnel efficiently. The candidate must be expert at developing projects into work tasks, setting objectives for others, and following up to gather all necessary inputs. The successful candidate must thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven situations, and work effectively on multiple tasks and projects. Candidates must also have very strong skills in areas of writing and communications, web and social media, task organization, and project planning. A successful candidate must be a self-starter, who takes the initiative with limited direction.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field is required -- an advanced degree is preferred. A minimum five (5) years of experience in similar work in an engineering or planning environment is preferred; background with non-technical professional services firms may be considered. Experience working with helping small, growing firms is a plus.

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat required; proficiency in Access, desktop publishing and graphics programs, MS Project, Visio, Adobe Illustrator, and/or other similar business software also desirable.

Knowledge of and interest in infrastructure, public transportation, safety, security, or similar disciplines is a plus. Experience in establishing or leading business development plans and approaches is essential.

Position is salaried based on experience and credentials, and is based on an approximately 45-hour work week, depending on current assignments.
