Salary: $62,608 to $70,327 annually, depending on experience

Greater Bridgeport Transit (GBT) is seeking a highly motivated Maintenance Foreman to support its growing Maintenance Department. This position is under the direction of the Manager of Maintenance.

The Maintenance Foreman has bottom-line responsibility for safely ensuring the proper maintenance and repair of all vehicles operated by GBT personnel, whether in fixed-route or paratransit service or in non-revenue support service. The Maintenance Foreman supervises all non-managerial and non-supervisory maintenance personnel working at GBT's maintenance department. Maintenance Foremen are responsible for ensuring an adequate supply of buses ready for pullouts as well as for providing ready replacements for buses that break down while in service. The Maintenance Foreman will provide technical assistance to and mentoring of mechanics. The Maintenance Foreman will have oversight of employee safety and productivity, and the assignment of maintenance and repair work to mechanics and related support staff. The Maintenance Foreman assists in managing the ongoing vehicle maintenance program and will provide assistance in the specifications of new vehicles and other related equipment. The Maintenance Foreman is a highly responsible supervisory position.

Requirements: An Associate's degree and 2-5 years of Shop Foreman experience or high school graduate or equivalent with five years of applied experience in maintenance of heavy diesel vehicles in some level of leadership capacity. Experience with heavy bus diesel vehicles is strongly preferred. Should have experience with responsibility for a skilled mechanical work force or any equivalent combination of training and experience and supervision which provides a demonstrated potential for performing the duties of this position; A degree or certificate from an accredited Automotive Technology institution or equivalent experience and ASE certifications in bus transit Tl-T8 are strongly preferred; Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
