Position Summary:
ACI is seeking a full-time IT Specialist to have overall responsibility for Bus Operations and Maintenance contracts in the Phoenix, Arizona. The IT Specialist will be based in Phoenix and will be part of a management team delivering transit services throughout the United States. The IT Specialist provides technical assistance to computer system users, answers questions and resolves computer problems for users in person, via telephone or from a remote location. Will support staff in the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems. This position works with all levels of staff to maintain data systems. The IT Specialist works independently and must manage time effectively to accomplish department goals.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee the daily performance of computer systems

  • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve problems

  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, software and network configuration and security

  • Maintain IT asset and consumables inventory

  • Ability to quickly learn how to support software by reading technical manuals and attending provided training

  • Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications; including computer system needs for management information, functional operations, determine scope and priorities of projects, discuss system capacity, and equipment acquisitions. Prepare evaluations of software or hardware and recommend improvements or upgrades

  • Develop training materials and procedures and train users in the proper use of hardware and software

  • Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment following design or installation specifications at local and remote sites and refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service

  • Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors

  • Manage and support system access for all users (including application of prescribed standards, following prescribed procedures for requests, etc.)

  • Software user support for Office 365, Payroll, Accounting, Maintenance software, Hastus, CAD/AVL, SharePoint and any other deployed software

  • Manage escalation of problems accessing software such as CAD/AVL and Hastus.

  • Complete ongoing training on all hardware & software listed above to enable troubleshooting and Tier 1 support.

  • Develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery plans

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Computer Science or related field from a four-year accredited college or university or equivalent years of education and experience (i.e. MCSE, CNE, CCNA, etc.); with a minimum of two years of progressive experience. Extended work experience may be substituted for educational credentials if appropriate.

  • Proficient with personal computers in a Windows environment including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint 2013

  • Knowledge of basic DNS, DHCP and switching management

  • Knowledge of basic MS Active directory

  • Experience with VPN management, Crystal Reports or MS Office 365 are a plus

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing with proficiency in spelling, grammar and punctuation

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize with attention to detail and meet deadlines. Ability to use good judgment and make sound decisions. Ability to analyze and evaluate data.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and successfully pass a pre-employment background check
