GoDurham, a public transportation organization serving the City of Durham in North Carolina, seeks a seasoned leader with extensive experience and a thorough understanding of transit operations to provide oversight for the organization’s 19-hour, 7-days-a-week transit operations. The Director has the overall responsibility for managing and providing leadership to the Customer Service and Operation teams of the GoDurham public transit system to provide highest level of service to all customers.

The Director is an integral member of the Senior Management team and is responsible for effective interface and integration of activities with other GoDurham departments. The Director provides direction to customer service/operations staff through objectives and programs established in conjunction with goals set by General Manager. Other responsibilities includes but not limited to: assisting with the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget, review and approval of the customer service and operations payroll, assurance of resolution of customer complaints, assurance of compliance of policies, procedures and collective bargaining agreement as well as other duties as directed by the General Manager.

The successful candidate will also play an integral part in ensuring compliance with regulations regarding American with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and other State and Federal agencies. In addition, the Director must be goal oriented.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation, or related field with a combination of ten years of customer service and direct transit operations experience with three to five years at a manager level. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator and be able to show a demonstrated ability to establish credibility, lead by influence, and exercise strong decision making skills. This individual must be effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines and able to prioritize conflicting demands, organize time and resources to deliver solid and consistent results and bring assignments to successful completion.
