Safety and Training Manager - Paratransit

NOTE: The following position is for proposed new business within Total Transportation Corp. Only candidates meeting the work experience and skills requirements will be considered.

Total Transportation Corp has been providing a wide range of passenger ground transportation services in both New York and Pennsylvania for 40 years. We are seeking a qualified full-time, Safety Manager to join our paratransit team in Bergen County, NJ.

Job Description: Oversees location safety and training activities, including scheduling, organizing and conducting initial and ongoing employee training and coaching, appropriately documenting employee safety performance, performing wheelchair securement certifications and ride along's and responding to incidents and accidents. The Safety and Training Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Minimum Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of principles and methods used for teaching and instructing individuals and groups and measuring the effectiveness of training

  • Directs, conducts or supervises interviewing, selection, and recruitment of adequate number of operator applicants to effectively provide safe, efficient, service.

  • Manage driver training and may conduct driver training, recommend retraining and discipline as required.

  • Conduct or assist General Manager with safety training and meetings. Conduct and review accident/incident investigations and complete reports, maintain complete safety files (example: accident/incident reports, I-9, bus reports, and worker compensation injury reports).

  • Maintain or coordinate complete personnel record keeping. Maintain substance abuse file.

  • Coordinate compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and work closely with General Manager or Designee to accomplish company objectives.

  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 3 years transportation, safety/training related experience

  • Knowledge of principles and methods used for teaching and instructing individuals and groups and measuring the effectiveness of training

  • Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card issued by a company-authorized healthcare provider

  • Effective leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities necessary to identify others’ developmental needs and best help others to improve their knowledge and skills

  • Cooperative, energetic and enthusiastic attitude

  • Dependable, stress-tolerant and adaptable nature, with experience in a fast-paced, multifunctional environment preferred

  • CDL License with Passenger Endorsement Required
