Job Description
The Virginia Department of Rail & Public Transportation (DRPT) is seeking a qualified individual to manage and provide oversight of public transportation program funds administered by the Commonwealth; and provide transportation providers (urban, small urban, rural and human transportation providers) with technical assistance in the areas of federal and state grant programs, capital and operations planning, congestion management, project development and project management Qualified individual will administer the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5310 Program: Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of federal, state, and/or local grant programs and policies; and knowledge of public transportation Ability to read and interpret federal and state rules and regulations Ability to evaluate and assess issues, interpret laws and regulations and communicate findings verbally and in writing to others. Ability to conduct studies including managing consultants, leading working groups, public speaking, and advising policy groups to formulate and implement recommendations. Knowledge of technology and performance data, as it is relates to public transportation service. Ability to work off-site with limited supervision, and to maintain clear communications and good rapport with diverse groups and individuals Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required.

Preferred Qualifications
Degree in urban planning, transportation planning, public administration, or related field. Experience in public transportation; and experience in public administration and project administration.
