Palm Tran, Inc., the public transit provider for Palm Beach County, is seeking a highly skilled director to lead its Maintenance Division.
Directs, coordinates and maintains fleet and facility maintenance management and preventive maintenance plans and programs in accordance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) maintenance guidelines and vehicle and component manufacturer recommendations; develops test and retrofit programs for bus component failures. Plans the procurement and delivery of inventories of parts, supplies, fuels, lubricants and equipment necessary for the maintenance and repair of revenue and non-revenue vehicles and related equipment. Budgets for appropriate staff, shop equipment, parts, supplies and materials. Ensures the highest level of productivity to provide safe and reliable buses to meet service demands. Evaluates the skill level of the work force and determines necessary training goals. Ensures adequate supply of vehicles for hurricane/disaster preparation and relief plans.
Oversees the Facilities Section of Palm Tran, which coordinates with Palm Beach County Facilities for the maintenance, repairs and implementation of construction projects. Oversees the maintenance and installation of bus stops, shelters and amenities. Reviews and approves the requisitions for repairs or modifications of Palm Tran facilities. Provides technical assistance in the preparation of specifications for new facilities and equipment. Establishes specifications for procurement of buses and support vehicles. Oversees the purchasing and contracting processes for procurement of rolling stock parts and supplies, vehicles and vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology, Automotive/Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance, Design or related field; minimum of three (3) years of experience in a mass transit or heavy equipment management environment.
Equivalencies:
1. Unrelated Bachelor's Degree OR related Associate's Degree and five (5) of experience in a mass transit or heavy equipment management environment.
2. Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and seven (7) years of experience in a mass transit or heavy equipment management environment.
PREFERENCE FOR: Five (5) years of experience in a senior management role overseeing the maintenance and repairs of mass transit or public/private transportation heavy duty buses.
