Job Summary/Duties:
This is highly responsible managerial, technical, administrative, and customer service work of a critical nature. The Superintendent directs all Bus Transportation related work and activities for his or her assigned sector. The Superintendent is responsible for maintaining optimal service performance for his or her assigned sector and for identifying and resolving potential service issues. The Superintendent ensures that all employees are provided adequate coaching, counseling and performance management to recognize good behavior and correct deficient behavior. The Superintendent is accountable for ensuring optimal customer service and is expected to implement service improvements in tandem and with the consensus of other sectors and Bus Operations leadership. The Superintendent has extensive latitude for independent judgment and action within established guidelines, and will be evaluated on the effectiveness of all bus transportation service, workforce productivity, cost performance, and other service programming and activities associated with his or her assigned sector.

  • Establishes performance criteria and behavior expectations for staff.

  • Provides the tools and resources necessary for people to perform their jobs.

  • Develops process and procedures to ensure consistent policy and procedures across transportation sub divisions including administration and paper work.

  • Analyzes financial and operational data to identify problems, recommend, and enact solutions.

  • Corrects safety and customer service issues within service area.

  • Ensures that all work assignments are filled and that service is met.

  • Achieves project milestones on time and within budget.

  • Coordinates organizational participation in special events and external activities including regional partners.


Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Transportation Management or a related field is desired. A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible diversified experience in all facets of bus operations and administrative work, including considerable experience as a high-level supervisor/manager over bus operations activities that demonstrate the ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise/manage a major bus operations function.

Or, an equivalent combination of post high school education, with some college training and more than nine (9) years of progressively responsible diversified experience in all facets of bus operations and administrative work, including considerable experience as a high-level supervisor/manager over bus operations activities that demonstrate the ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise/manage a major bus operations function.

License:
Possession of, or ability to rapidly acquire, a valid Driver's License from the jurisdiction of residence.

Medical Group:
Ability to satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this job either with or without reasonable accommodation(s).
