The Superintendent, Bus Transportation reports to the Director, Bus Transportation, and is responsible for overseeing bus transportation services for San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans). As the Superintendent, Bus Transportation, you will ensure operating schedules meet service needs, are in compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and meet cost-effective staffing management standards. This person will also ensure customers’ issues are promptly and effectively addressed. The Superintendent, Bus Transportation will participate in the development of standard operating procedures that define and govern specific administrative and operational business practices. The incumbent will manage bus transportation staff, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree in business management, supervision, public administration, transportation management, or closely related field with six years of full-time experience in public transportation operations, plus two years of supervisory experience. Experience understanding, interpreting, and applying labor/management agreements needed. You should have the ability to apply local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing public transportation and effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. You should also have the ability to problem solve, analyze, make recommendations, and implement solutions. Must have effective oral and written communications skills. Effective organizational and prioritization skills desired.
