Basic Functions:

Oversees the research and outreach components of the Office of Innovation. Identifies innovative and sustainable use of transit vehicles and services through practices and technologies. Initiates the piloting of new ideas and policies in an effort to ensure successful and positive results. Expands public/private partnerships to enhance mobility. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures. Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

•Assists the Chief Innovation Officer in providing strategic direction and establishing the goals and priorities of the department and assessing new operational processes.

•Researches and makes recommendations on the best possible ideas and concepts to initiate and pursue to improve the quality of the traveler experience and the transit product.

•Conducts research and outreach efforts to identify and initiate new and unique mobility enhancing practices and technology to improve multi-model connectivity.

•Researches and assembles data on performance measures such as accessibility, safety and environmental issues to assist in identifying potential areas for improvement.

•Researches and reviews alternative technology and systems that monitor rider and passenger safety.

•Addresses accessibility issues through application of innovative technologies and practices.

•Creates and develops an implementation plan for ideas generated through the Office of Innovation.

•Leads discussion and research regarding public/private partnerships in our region.

•Partners with the academic community, transportation professionals and the private sector to research past and leading edge ideas and trends to address current and anticipated transportation challenges.

•Collaborates with governmental, federal agencies, the private sector and policy makers involved in energy and environmental research to create effective and results based partnerships.

•Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.

•Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation Planning & Management, Urban Planning or related field. Master's degree in Transportation Planning & Management or Master's Business Administration preferred.

Minimum eight (8) years professional experience in transportation planning, policy, program management or project development; to include supervisory/managerial experience.

Must be able to develop and implement objectives, policies and procedures. Must exercise sound judgment to analyze situations, identify problems and develop solutions. Must have excellent (verbal and written) communications and interpersonal skills.
